Dewey's Read-a-Thon

"Today I'd like to sit and read. Forget I have a job I need.
Ignore the things I have to do. And just enjoy a book or two."

I've always loved the idea about sharing reading experiences. And I've wanted to join the Dewey's Read-a-Thon ever since I've heard about it. Unfortunately, I missed it all the time. But this month I finally have an opportunity to become a part of the reading venture so here I am with a post about it. It's Saturday morning and I am enjoying my breakfast for the time being. But I am already eager to start with the reading. All the thing is going to begin at 2pm and will last for 24 hours. I am not really sure whether I'll manage to stay awake all the night but I swear I'll try to do it. I am going to be updating this post during the day so stay tuned if you're interested. I will be reading "Hallowe'en Party" by Agatha Christie because Halloween is coming and I am in a mood for a good murder plot. I am convinced that it'll be great but we'll see. And then I would like to get into "Anne of Green Gables" by L. M. Montgomery because I've wanted to read it for a really long time and I think that Autumn could be a perfect timing for the story... Now, let me make sure that I have everything I need. Books, check. A cup of tea, check. Sweet snacks, check. Comfy clothes, check. Okay, my reading place is apparently set up and I am ready and really look forward to start my first Read-a-Thon yet. You can also follow me via my Instagram account using #readathon.

13:55 - Countdown any second, I am anxious to finally get into a book. I decided to start with "Anne of Green Gables" as a first and I just can't wait for the storyline. My parents left the house a while ago so I am home alone which is perfect for this occasion. I made a cup of fruit tea for myself and went to bed because there is a cold anywhere else. Okay, let's begin...

16:35 - I have to admit that I am really peculiar reader for I've never read "Anne of Green Gables" before. Fortiori, I've never watched the TV series based on that story. For my defense, there is actually no copy of this book to find in a bookstores in the Czech Republic. Therefore I'm so happy I can read it in English because this is literally that kind of story which catches my heart. I already love it. Anne is so amusing. I enjoy her and the lengthy monologues of hers really a lot...

"People laugh at me because I use big words.
But if you have big ideas you have to use big words to express them, haven't you?"

21:00 - It's really weird how fast the time passes. I have a feeling that I am reading just one hour or so. And I didn't even read so many pages. Despite I ate a lot of food. Seriously. Reading makes me starving. My parents already came home so I abandoned their bed and wandered to mine. I am not very tired so I am going to continue in reading. Hopefully I'll managed to finish the first book until morning...

6:30 - Oh well, I think I quite overestimated myself. Of course I fell asleep somewhere in the middle of the night. But I would say it's good for my sake because I look so badly when I do not have a proper slumber... Although it looks like it's still profound night behind the window and our house is very silent for everyone is still sleeping, I forced myself to get up. I washed my face with a cold water and prepared a cup of hot tea for myself. Now, I am back in my bed, ready to get on with the reading...

"I'm not in the depths of despair this morning.
I never can be in the morning. Isn't it a splendid thing that there are mornings?

8:30 - I finally finished "Anne of Green Gables". But I'm not happy for that because it was so beautiful and astonishing story and I didn't want it to end. It's so pity once I loaded into a story it had to end. Well now, it's not a sheer end, is it? I still have loads of books about Anne ahead of me and I am really excited for them... I am going to eat my breakfast and then start to read my first book by Agatha Christie. Now again, what an odd kind of reader am I?

11:00 - I really enjoy Agatha Christie's writing style. "Hallowe'en Party" is very fast and pleasant read. Love it so far. Now I am having a little break. I am listening to a beautiful song Landslide by Stevie Nicks and then I am going to go to a shower.

"There is always a brave new world," said Poirot, "but only, you know, for very special people. The lucky ones. The ones who carry the making of that world within themselves."

14:00 - I managed to read 100 pages of "Hallowe'en Party". Well yes, I am a slow reader. But it doesn't matter. I really enjoyed the whole Read-a-Thon. And I am so happy I joined this event. I feel very refreshed and relaxed. At 1:30pm has begun Agatha Christie's Poirot: Death on the Nile on the TV so the last half an hour of the Read-a-Thon I spent by watching it. And I am in a high spirits now, though, I am also a little sad that it's already over. I would like to thank to all of you for your support during the reading time. I look forward to the next time...
