everyday post| Before I Leave

The time has passed so quickly. I have only one week before I'll leave. And still I do not have all of my stuff packed. I actually haven't even started yet. It's different than packing for holiday so I'm quite lost. I have to choose the books that I'll take with me. I feel a little desperately for I can't pack all of them. But I try not to give in. I should learn to be a minimalist anyway and this might be the best opportunity to do it. But that doesn't mean that it hurts less...
Anyways, I took a few pictures of my life around our house as well as while walking through streets lately. So you can see what I was doing in the last few days. This is probably the last lifestyle post from the Czech Republic. The next one is supposed to be from the new living destination. I know I might seem a little melancholic at the moment but don't worry. I am actually very happy...
Hope you have a wonderful time...

A little moment with Raffaello while doing manicure...
The first hot chocole of the season. Oh, I love autumn so so much...
Prepared for my favourite sweater weather...
A borrowed book A Vintage Affair from my lovely aunt (visit her blog) and my boots inspired by Anne of Green Gables...
Love this cute jewelry box. Well, it's actually supposed to be a box for chocolate but I would say it's too small for chocolate, don't you think?
The most beautiful edition of Anne of Green Gables...
Cupcakes through a shop window...
Yellowy autumn leaves...
Reading Anne of Green Gables in the garden...
I just can't wait for Christmas. I'm still like a little kid when it comes to this. But who doesn't, right?
Working on the new post about books published by Penguin Clothbound Classics...

Pride's Prejudice

Author: Misty Dawn Pulsipher
Publisher: Createspace
Publication Date: 2013
Pages: 310

Beth Pride really can't stand William Darcy who did not show himself in a good light when they first met each other, said by mild words. Beth wish to avoid him the most but because of intimate rapprochement of her best friend and William's best buddy, it's not possible to dodge him at all. So the only thing she can do is rethink her first impressions of William. But what if her wounded pride will not allow it?

"The connection we share in this life are fragile - wispy spider webs, easily swept aside with the crass bristle of circumstance."

I have completely fallen under the spell of Misty Pulsipher's writing style. Her books are just fabulous. I thoroughly love them for their atmosphere and characters as well as for the feelings that they awoke inside of me. All issues blows out of me when I read novels of hers. I always find myself utterly lost in their plots and I cannot even put them down for an instant moment.
I am so glad that I've found Pride's Prejudice as splendid as Persuaded. I would say that Persuaded was a little bit more melancholic story compared to facetious teasing of Beth and William in Pride's Prejudice. But I would recommend both books to you with exactly the same enthusiasm. Misty Dawn Pulsipher is truly talented writer. And her books belong to the best rmodern etellings of Jane Austen's novels I have ever read.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. It was fast-flowing and romantic without being too much. I also very appreciated that even if it was written upon Pride & Prejudice, it wasn't arid transcription of it. Misty Pulsipher created wholly new tale. She just used Jane Austen's novel as an inspiration and remaked it into a modern story. And it worked very well...

***

"It didn’t matter that he was pleasantly taller than she remembered, or that those eyes were the color of dark chocolate. She’d always preferred milk chocolate."

Dewey's Read-a-Thon

"Today I'd like to sit and read. Forget I have a job I need.
Ignore the things I have to do. And just enjoy a book or two."

I've always loved the idea about sharing reading experiences. And I've wanted to join the Dewey's Read-a-Thon ever since I've heard about it. Unfortunately, I missed it all the time. But this month I finally have an opportunity to become a part of the reading venture so here I am with a post about it. It's Saturday morning and I am enjoying my breakfast for the time being. But I am already eager to start with the reading. All the thing is going to begin at 2pm and will last for 24 hours. I am not really sure whether I'll manage to stay awake all the night but I swear I'll try to do it. I am going to be updating this post during the day so stay tuned if you're interested. I will be reading "Hallowe'en Party" by Agatha Christie because Halloween is coming and I am in a mood for a good murder plot. I am convinced that it'll be great but we'll see. And then I would like to get into "Anne of Green Gables" by L. M. Montgomery because I've wanted to read it for a really long time and I think that Autumn could be a perfect timing for the story... Now, let me make sure that I have everything I need. Books, check. A cup of tea, check. Sweet snacks, check. Comfy clothes, check. Okay, my reading place is apparently set up and I am ready and really look forward to start my first Read-a-Thon yet. You can also follow me via my Instagram account using #readathon.

13:55 - Countdown any second, I am anxious to finally get into a book. I decided to start with "Anne of Green Gables" as a first and I just can't wait for the storyline. My parents left the house a while ago so I am home alone which is perfect for this occasion. I made a cup of fruit tea for myself and went to bed because there is a cold anywhere else. Okay, let's begin...

16:35 - I have to admit that I am really peculiar reader for I've never read "Anne of Green Gables" before. Fortiori, I've never watched the TV series based on that story. For my defense, there is actually no copy of this book to find in a bookstores in the Czech Republic. Therefore I'm so happy I can read it in English because this is literally that kind of story which catches my heart. I already love it. Anne is so amusing. I enjoy her and the lengthy monologues of hers really a lot...

"People laugh at me because I use big words.
But if you have big ideas you have to use big words to express them, haven't you?"

21:00 - It's really weird how fast the time passes. I have a feeling that I am reading just one hour or so. And I didn't even read so many pages. Despite I ate a lot of food. Seriously. Reading makes me starving. My parents already came home so I abandoned their bed and wandered to mine. I am not very tired so I am going to continue in reading. Hopefully I'll managed to finish the first book until morning...

6:30 - Oh well, I think I quite overestimated myself. Of course I fell asleep somewhere in the middle of the night. But I would say it's good for my sake because I look so badly when I do not have a proper slumber... Although it looks like it's still profound night behind the window and our house is very silent for everyone is still sleeping, I forced myself to get up. I washed my face with a cold water and prepared a cup of hot tea for myself. Now, I am back in my bed, ready to get on with the reading...

"I'm not in the depths of despair this morning.
I never can be in the morning. Isn't it a splendid thing that there are mornings?

8:30 - I finally finished "Anne of Green Gables". But I'm not happy for that because it was so beautiful and astonishing story and I didn't want it to end. It's so pity once I loaded into a story it had to end. Well now, it's not a sheer end, is it? I still have loads of books about Anne ahead of me and I am really excited for them... I am going to eat my breakfast and then start to read my first book by Agatha Christie. Now again, what an odd kind of reader am I?

11:00 - I really enjoy Agatha Christie's writing style. "Hallowe'en Party" is very fast and pleasant read. Love it so far. Now I am having a little break. I am listening to a beautiful song Landslide by Stevie Nicks and then I am going to go to a shower.

"There is always a brave new world," said Poirot, "but only, you know, for very special people. The lucky ones. The ones who carry the making of that world within themselves."

14:00 - I managed to read 100 pages of "Hallowe'en Party". Well yes, I am a slow reader. But it doesn't matter. I really enjoyed the whole Read-a-Thon. And I am so happy I joined this event. I feel very refreshed and relaxed. At 1:30pm has begun Agatha Christie's Poirot: Death on the Nile on the TV so the last half an hour of the Read-a-Thon I spent by watching it. And I am in a high spirits now, though, I am also a little sad that it's already over. I would like to thank to all of you for your support during the reading time. I look forward to the next time...

Theme on Saturday #30| My Jane Austen Collection

I don't even know how it has started. I was in the middle of the proces till I realized that I have began to collect Jane Austen's books. It might seem that there is not so much to gather since Jane Austen wrote only six novels and some unfinished stories but there are also books inspired by Jane Austen and then books about Jane Austen et cetera et cetera. So you can believe me when I say that you can spend your whole life by amplifying your own collection...

I own every single novel written by Jane Austen in paperback as well as in hardback version. Then I have a massive edition that contains all of Jane Austen's work in it. And four of her novels I also have in a flipback edition which I really love. The vast majority of my collection of Jane Austen's books is in English because in this case I prefer the original language. But still, I do own Pride & Prejudice and Northanger Abbey in the Czech language as well, even though I have not read them in the translated versions, actually.

Because I am a big fan of modern re-tellings, I have lots of them as well. My all time favorites are The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy FowlerAustenland by Shannon Hale and Persuaded by Misty Dawn Pulsipher which I have read recently. I also really like Me and Mr. Darcy by Alexandra Potter which is very amusing story. And I would definitely recommend First Impressions by Charlie Lovett if you would like to read more about Jane Austen's "backstage".

A few days ago I published this post by mistake and did not notice it until the next morning. However, this contribution had not been completed yet by that time so I deleted it. But today I am finally here with the final and intended version. And I hope you'll enjoy it... Okay, that would be for the introduction. Now let's move on to the photos in which you can see the actual books.

"I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library."
(Jane Austen)

Každý román Jane Austenové vlastním v brožované i vázané verzi.
