It's 1942 and Maisie McCall wants to do something helpful, which is why she applies for a job in a Women's Timber Corps as a lumberjill. It's a very hard job but she enjoyes her independence and newfound friendships. She also meets young gentleman which she finds herself falling for very quickly. But John Lindsay has many secrets and his inner battles keep them apart...

If this is not your first time on my blog, I am sure you know how much I love Caroline Leech's debut novel Wait for Me. I read that book at the beginning of spring last year, and my opinion on it hasn't changed one bit since then. I still think about the story very often and with fond memories. So I think it's safe to say that it's now one of my all time favourites. As soon as I had finished the book I started looking forward to Caroline Leech's new one, called In Another Time. The waiting was really long, but I was so fortunatte as to received the advanced reader's copy in April last year. And as you can imagine, I devoured the book within a couple of days...

I would describe Caroline Leech's writing style as tender and beautiful, but it is also very raw in a sense that everything that happens on the paper feels very real. She really doesn't tiptoe around difficult topics but discuss them openheartedly. She also has a way of making you feel for the characters from the very beginning. I always find myself unable to move on with my life until I find out what happens to them. And they never have happiness for free. They're always on a verge of falling, which doesn't allow you to let out a breath of relief till the very end. Her stories are simply an emotional ride, but one you can't possibly miss out on...

In Another Time was a very sensitive and poignant coming of age story in a difficult time. About self acknowledgement and opening oneself to love in defiance of the internal obstacles as well as thoso from without. After this book, Caroline Leech has become one of my auto buy authors, and I simply can't wait for her next story. If you haven't read any of her books yet, I would highly recommend you to do so. I strongly believe that you will fall in love with her wrting style, her characters and the stories they have to tell. World needs her stories so much, and there is hardly any day I would't remember them...
