Another 10 Bookish Facts About Me

  1. The first book that I remember reading for myself was the Aesop's Fables. I had had a nice brown copy in the bookshelf throughout my whole childhood. I liked that I could pick it up every now and then and read a story or two without having to finish the entire book. Sadly enough, the book got misplaced during our last move eight years ago. But I recently replaced it with a gorgeous leather bound edition from Barnes & Noble.
  2. My Hogwarts House is Ravenclaw, my patronus Red Squirrel, and my recommended wand is from Sycamore wood with a Phoenex feather core 11¾" and unbending flaxibility.
  3. In my entire life, I've never read a detective book. Which is really weird, for I am always dreaming about cosying up with a book packed with thrilling atmosphere and a murder mystery. (If you guys know about a book that would resemble the TV series Midsomer Murders, please let me know.)
  4. My brother was the main inspiration for me to start reading when I was little. He is not very much of a reader nowadys, but I still remember his twelve years old self completely immersed in the world of Harry Potter. I envied him so much the capability to lose himself in a book back then. And it helped me to overcome the fear of starting my first book. I think you need a lot of confidence to belive yourself capable of finishing your first read. And my brother was the one who gave me that.
  5. I can't seem to be able to stop reading in English even for a little while. The last book in Czech I've read was more than two years ago. But I would like to incorporate more books in my native language into my reading routine soon. So here's to hoping...
  6. I've dreamt about having a home library since I was six years old, which was way before I read any book for myself. But even then, books were really special to me and I was fascinated with them. And the idea of having a whole room dedicated to just books was like a dream. We had had a lot of attics in our old house and we were planning to turn one into a library, but we never had a chance to do so before we moved. But this year, we are finaly making it happen in our current house. I can't even put into words how excited I am about it, but I'm sure you guys, of all people, understand perfectly...
  7. Even though I like to take a good care of my books, I don't mind leaving inscriptions in them. Sometimes I underline beautiful or meaningful sentences or write my own thoughts in the margins. And if I feel particularly inspired by the story I even draw little illustrations in books (viz the picture below).
  8. I love re-reading my favourite books even more than reading them for the first time. I am very emotional reader and so the knowledge of the ending makes it easier for me to relax and enjoy the story without stressing over the unexpected turn of events...
  9. I always google my favourite actors and singers in an attempt of finding out what their favourite books are. And if I do find out, I add their choices to my evergrowing TBR list. I also like to read favourite books of my favourite authors'.
  10. I love to watch book related ASMR videos on YouTube. It relaxes my mind and sooths my soul and helps to suppress my anxieties.
